What time do you open the gates on Friday ?

The gates are open at 9am Friday.

What time do I have to leave by?

On Monday, we would like for the site to be cleared by 1pm so we can begin the pack down. Please make sure you leave your site clean and tidy.

Where can I park my car?

There are two large car parks where you can leave your car should you wish to use it throughout the weekend. If you arrive before 7pm on the Friday, you can park your car next to your campsite. After 7pm on Friday, we do not allow cars to move about the site to make our site as safe and family-friendly as possible. Please note we do make allowances for those with mobility concerns. Speak to the gate crew on arrival if you would like to discuss these.

Can I camp on-site?

Yes, there are several large camping areas with toilets and showers, and most people with weekend passess camp at the site. Camping is not available with a day pass. We cater for tents, caravans and campervans. There is no electric power available and there is no camp kitchen, so campers can bring their own setup or buy food from one of our lovely food vendors. You can set up your camping accommodation at any time during the weekend but please note that no cars are allowed to drive through the site after 7pm Friday.

Where can I stay off-site?

We haven't got any hotels/motels in the area but BookABach or AirBnb will be a great place to start!

Is there power for my campsite?

No, unfortunately power supply is limited at the site although there are charging points for small devices such as mobiles or for instruments such as keyboards. We cannot provide facilities to charge electric vehicles, however there is a charging station a short drive away.

If you require electricity for medical reasons, please contact the site manager to arrange this at site@aucklandfolkfestival.co.nz. We reserve the right to request evidence of the medical reason.

Are there any cooking facilities at the festival?

There are no cooking facilities or refrigeration at the festival, however we do have a number of delicious Food Stalls and you are able to use contained camping cooking equipment as long as our Terms and Conditions are adhered to.(link to T&Cs). Water is freely available.

Can I bring my dog to the festival?

As per the rules of the Kumeu Showgrounds, animals are not permitted on site, except for disability assist dogs.

Does the festival have a liquor licence and outlet?

No, there are no liquor facilities on site but there are a number of liquor stores within walking distance and you are free to bring liquor on-site.

Please note this is a family festival and disruptive intoxication will not be tolerated.

Are there food providers on site?

Yes we have a number of high quality food and beverage providers on site. There are also a refillery (Source Foods), fruit and veg shops, dairies and a New World supermarket within walking distance.

Are the venues seated?

The Marquee and the Barn are provided with chairs. Other venues do not have seating and you may take a camp chair, however we ask that you are considerate to those around you and do not leave a chair in place in an attempt to reserve a place.

Do you sell CDs and other merchandise?

Yes we sell CDs, t-shirts and a few other lovely things throughout the festival. These can be found at the merchandise tent in the Village area. There are retailers on-site selling musical instruments and clothing among other things in the Village also.

Can I play at the festival?

The artists are set many months before but there are Come-all-ye and blackboard sessions throughout the weekend that are walk-up sessions so anyone can approach the venue coordinator and book a spot.

Can I record the music?

Out of respect for the artists, we ask that you do not film any part of their act without consent.

What is your rubbish policy?

Auckland Folk Festival is taking the path towards being zero waste. There are many bin sites around the site and we thank you for your support by correctly using the mixed recycling, food waste and landfill bins provided, while limiting your waste as much as possible. Please be mindful of what you bring on site and make sure your site is clear of any rubbish before you leave. Be a tidy Kiwi!

How is the festival run?

There is a volunteer organising committee representing the Charitable Incorporated Society that runs the Festival. Committee members are on-site during the weekend, if you need to contact us ask at the ticket office or merchandise tent.

How safe is the site?

This is a family friendly festival which very effectively self-polices. If you notice anything unusual, please report this to the ticket office or merchandise tent. Security patrol the grounds from 8pm to 8am each night.

How do I raise a concern or make a complaint?

In the first instance, you can approach one of the committee and we'll try and sort it out. Alternatively, you can make a written complaint to the committee from the the contact page and we will deal with it formally.
